“It takes a village to raise a child” goes the saying. It takes dedicated team to treat one, bearing this in mind; our department has a fully fledged faculty and the required infrastructure to run the department seamlessly.

The Peadiatrics Department is functioning since March 2003 and has been achieving milestone after milestone.

There are 3 Pediatrics wards, NICU and PICU. All the units are well equipped with instruments and medical and paramedical staff for round the clock monitoring. In addition specialty clinics are conducted every day, to cater to children with long term illness. We constantly strive to provide quality care and ensure patient satisfaction.

We have 90 bedded Pediatrics hospital ward headed and A full pledged faculty with eminent professors and reputed teachers who have dedicated their life for the tender pediatric population. With the clinical expertise of residents supported by the postgraduates the Pediatrics department runs round the clock and caters to all emergencies.

The NICU catering to North Andhra, Chattishgarh and Orissa with world class infrastructure is maned by round the clock neonatologist. The PICU is well equipped with state of art ventilator, ABG machines and other latest equipment. It is manned by eminent and dedicated specialists round the clock.

AIM

  • To be a world class referral centre for north Andhra, Chattishgarh and Orissa.
  • Ambitious goal to start DM Neonatology, DNB Pediatrics, Fellowship in Neonatology and DM in various subspecialities of Pediatrics and become an institute of Academic excellance and research.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Low birth weight New borns weighing less than 700 grams have been taken care of successfully.
  • Post graduates trained in the department have settled and progressed in the field of speciality and superspeciality successfully.
  • We have publications in all leading national and international journals of repute. The publications and research work has been appreciated and awarded by various conferences and organizations.
  • The department of Pediatrics with the support of management has conducted several camps in the remote areas of north costal Andhra Pradesh and Orissa. Through these camps we reached the tribals and backward areas where much needed healthcare is provided.
  • Sickle cell anemia is endemic in this area of north costal Andhra Pradesh. The department caters to the needs of several sickle cell anemia patients and attends to the complications.
  • Department of Pediatrics supports and cares for the newborn babies born to mothers who received medical care and free delivery through the ambitious programme of the management  the “Kannatalli Padhakam”
  • We provide free immunization facilities as per national immunization schedule. Optional vaccines are given after discussing with the patients.
